Office of Environmental Education - Florida Department of Environmental Protection

2009 Earth Day at the CapitolOffice of Environmental Education – Florida Department of Environmental Protection
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Environmental Education supports learning in Florida’s environment in many forms. It seeks to cultivate and support environmental citizenship, the capacity to think critically, and participate constructively in its protection. Together with other government agencies, non-profit organizations, the academe, and the private sector, the Office of Environmental Education contributes to the structure, program and funding of environmental education in Florida. The primary program of the Office of Environmental Education is the Learning in Florida’s Environment or LIFE Program. The LIFE Program supports science education for middle school students by engaging them in outdoor field labs conducted at state parks.

Thursday, April 22, 2010, The Department of Environmental Protection will celebrate Earth Day at the Capitol. Earth Day will be at Waller Park on the west side of the Capitol building.

K-12 Teachers and home school groups are encouraged to bring their students. There will be free resources for educators and opportunities for hands on learning including interactive displays and educational exhibits.

We also welcome CCC members to set up interactive displays with an environmental theme.
