The Community Classroom Consortium Celebrates 20 Years at “The People’s House”

From the symmetrical red brick with white Corinthian columns and central portico to its elaborate Dining Hall and Florida Room, the Governor’s Mansion opened its doors to help CCC commemorate its 20th anniversary.

Mansion Curator and CCC Board Member, Carol Beck escorted over 50 people through the Mansion treating everyone to an informative, fun-filled “personal” tour.

Once in the intimate setting of the Mansion’s Florida Library, Robert Ryals, Curator of the Claude Pepper Institute, presented Ms. Beck with two copies of Claude Pepper, Eyewitness to a Century. The biography about one of Florida’s outstanding Congressmen will join the shelves and the array of books about Florida and important Floridians, mostly written by Florida authors.

The beautiful weather allowed CCC members, friends, and children to enjoy an elegant outside reception, prepared by Mansion Chef Josh Butler, in the Governor’s native park, adjacent to Sandy Proctor’s landmark sculpture, Florida’s Finest.

CCC President, Robin Will greeted present and past members of the Consortium as well as numerous guests and families.

CCC takes great pride in turning 20 as it continues to offer these authentic experiences to inspire a sense of community and educational enrichment.
